An Exploration into Plaster Consistency

This WIP research video shows the different stages of consistency that plaster goes through between being mixed and setting.  The rough narration of the video describes how research through the material is important for understanding processes described in historical literature as there can be information left out by the writers.

My material literacy of plaster has enabled me to understand how Armatures were set into plaster sculpture casts, and by exploring the nuances of the material I’m researching I have gained the ability to question the descriptions of the process further.  Using video was the best way to show the movement of the plaster during this process.
